To celebrate the animated series Star Wars Rebels, fans have designated today, 5th March, as #RebelsRemembered Day, in honor of the day the last episode aired in 2018. To celebrate #RebelsRemembered I’m taking a look at the Star Wars Rebels content in a game I play daily – Star Wars Card Trader by Topps.

Star Wars Card Trader (SWCT) is an app game where you can collect Star Wars digital cards, with the aim of trying to complete sets by trading with other players. As as long time SWCT player (since the game launched in early 2015), I have collected a fair amount of Star Wars Rebels themed cards. It it would take too long to share all my Rebels cards, so I’ll try to narrow it down to some of my favourites.

An older set, but my of my all-time favourites – I also have the black and white version set too, but the colour ‘swoosh’ backgrounds really make this version fun and bright.

One particular set that always stands out in my collection is the Artist Series by Dave Filoni – they feature Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader with a striking red and black colour scheme .

There so many great Rebels card sets that I either don’t have time/space to feature here, or I didn’t manage to collect myself. Alas, sometimes the pack odds just don’t work for you. One recent set that I did managed to collect and complete was ‘Inquisitorious’, which predominantly featured the clashes of the Inquisitors against the Rebels. A fantastic but too big to include here as well. And one that I am actively working on completing is the new ‘Fractured’ set featuring Rebels characters – the cards have a neat ‘fracture’ animation to the borders!

Star Wars Galaxy Of Heroes (SWGOH) is an app game where you can collect Star Wars characters and and battle them against in-game challenges and also other players. As as long time SWGOH player (since the game launched in late 2015), I was so excited to see the entire Phoenix Squadron join the game in 2017 –

• Kanan Jarrus – added 16th March 2017
• Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios – added 23rd March 2017
• Ezra Bridger – added 30th March 2017

• Grand Admiral Thrawn – added 15th June 2017

While my Rebels line-up are not the highest geared characters in my roster, I do still use them often. Fulcrum Ahsoka works well in Rebel-themed teams, and Grand Admiral Thrawn is an absolutely must-have character, a powerful addition to Empire teams. With the new game emphasis on Grand Arena, I definitely need to gear this team up so I’ve got them at the ready – fingers crossed for a new omega ability for one of them, Hera maybe?

A great in-game event is the Artist Of War legendary event, where you use the Phoenix squad characters to defeat and then unlock Grand Admiral Thrawn. I remember how hard this was back when it launched in 2017! It took careful strategy to beat him, which was only fitting of course.

As well as characters from Rebels, SWGOH also has some ships too! The Ghost and Phantom II are available in-game, as well as Thrawn’s flagship Chimaera. The Phantom II is in my current main ship team, and Chimaera is great for the fleet section in Territory War.

We’re uploading the streamed video and conversation, where we break down our immediate post-episode thoughts for each week, to the Villa Varykino YouTube channel.

Episodes 5-7 are up now. We will return to this format on the Villa Varykino Twitch channel, running through planetary heroics as a background, when new episodes of Star Wars series screen on Disney+. In between seasons, we’ll play Star Wars games including SWTOR, and chat about Star Wars in general. Boba Fett has arrived in Disney Magic Kingdoms! The latest game update to the Disney Park app game is themed on season 2 of the popular Disney + series The Mandalorian. As a longtime Disney Magic Kingdoms player and Star Wars fan, I was so excited to see more of my favourite characters added to the game!

The game already has characters and content from The Mandalorian. A prior event featured characters from season 1 – The Mandalorian, The Child, Kuiil, Cara Dune, and Greef Karga. This new expansion includes three prominent characters from season 2 – Ahsoka Tano, Fennec Shand, and of course Boba Fett.

Rather than a standard style event with a storyline, these characters are available through a ‘Cascading Critters’ event, where you battle three tiers of creatures to earn milestone prizes including Fennec Shand and Boba Fett, while Ahsoka Tano is the ‘premium’ character, available via in-game currency or direct app store purchase. The event runs for 9 days, and requires a fair amount of game time to complete – as it takes time to manage the three tiers of activities, each earning tokens for the tier above, which ultimately lets you unlock Boba Fett as the final grand prize. There are also leaderboards for each tier, where your progress is ranked against other players for the chance to earn additional prizes.

I purchased Ahsoka Tano – as a favourite character of mine, I had to have her in my park. She helps a lot with completing the event on time, and I really didn’t want to miss out on the final prize. I have all of the Star Wars characters and attractions in the game (including the rare Marauder Shuttle attraction), so I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss out on her or Boba Fett for my collection.

The first tier requires a simple tapper – 5 blurrgs appear in the park every two hours, and tapping/collecting 50 of these grants the milestone reward of Fennec Shand. She is an awesome new Star Wars character – she first appeared in season 1 of The Mandalorian, then the animated series The Bad Batch, and will be a central character in the upcoming series The Book Of Boba Fett.

Collecting tokens from the first tier blurrg tapper event, players can work on the second tier – ice spiders. This is where Fennec Shand is really useful, working alongside Kuiil and C-3PO in this phase. Milestone rewards for ‘thawing’ 90 ice spiders for this tier include x2 Star Wars legendary chests, which may contain Star Wars characters, attractions, and concession stands (if you have all the existing sequel trilogy and Mandalorian characters/attractions, then these chests only contain concession stands).

Tokens earnt from tier 2 are then used to fight the 3rd and final tier creature – Reptavians. The milestone reward for wrangling 50 reptavians is Boba Fett himself. This is where Ahsoka Tano is very helpful, used alongside C-3PO and the Mandalorian. These flying creatures are quite large within the game, certainly one of the biggest ‘temporary character and/or tapper’ additions I’ve seen (along with the Heffalump Balloons).

As this event is themed on season 2 of The Mandalorian, Boba Fett wears his outfit from that series – but as this game has a system for different outfits/costumes, I would love to see a classic original trilogy version (ESB/ROTJ etc) or his new outfit for The Book Of Boba Fett.

I was really happy to be able to complete this event with time to spare. Obviously it takes a bit of time and dedication to achieve the final character in Disney Magic Kingdoms events, so now I can take it easier now with my 3 new Star Wars characters unlocked. The token quests to level up these new characters conflict with the event tasks, so for now I am still collecting the three tiers of creatures in the hopes of earning some leaderboard rewards. When the event ends, I’ll get stuck into leveling these characters up!

Happy Star Wars Day! Each year, Star Wars The Old Republic rewards players that log in on May 4th – with a free little astromech pet! This year, the droid is M4-Y10, which stands for ‘May 4th Year 10’ – as this year SWTOR celebrates 10 years!

When I logged in this morning, the free pet was awarded to all my characters via in-game mail. The astromech pet is similar to previous versions, but this year’s droid features a colour scheme inspired by the black and red armor of the ‘Bad Batch’ clonetroopers, to tie-in with the new animated series that debuted on Disney+ today as well.

I love collecting the pets in SWTOR, so this little droid was a fine addition to my collection. As a veteran player, I have all the previous May 4th droids, and I really like the design of M4-Y10. A great little gift for playing SWTOR – which of course we always play on Star Wars Day.

I love the events in Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the new Feast of Prosperity is no exception – it might even be my new favourite from them all!

The new annual event launched on October 20th 2020 and ran until November 10th 2020 – giving players three weeks to cook exotic dishes, serve hungry cantina patrons, hunt down rare ingredients across the galaxy, and earn fantastic vendor rewards!

Here is my complete play-through of the event with my Jedi Sentinel Anaria, including the daily quests, three-part storyline, and vendor rewards.

As with many other SWTOR events, players started by visiting an event npc on the fleet –

Then it was off to Nar Shaddaa, to meet with the two Hutts that organised the feast – Gaboorga the Abundant, and Duuba the Magnanimous. Depending on whether your character is Empire or Republic, you would start by talking to a different Hutt, and would later encounter a choice to support one or the other.

Once you were properly introduced to the event, it was on to the quests. There were four main quests to choose from, which I referred to as the cantina dash, the cooking quest, the world boss quest, and the ingredient quest. In all honesty, these quests were addictive, and I spent hours each day running as many characters as I could through the quests!

First up, the cantina dash. This quest was available in two modes, that is, easy and hard. Easy mode had one round, and was as you might guess, easy to complete, but the hard version had four rounds, and was considerably faster! It took concentration to pay attention to which table timers would run out fastest. Honestly, this one was a bit stressful, and the fast-paced music really kept me on my toes.

Next up, the cooking quest. This was also available to two modes – easy, and hard. In the easy mode, there was no timer, and the ingredients were easy to find. In hard mode, you had more steps, a timer, and the ingredients were not ‘lit up’ so you had to really memorise where everything was in the room to finish quickly.

I think the cooking quests were my favourite part of the event. They were quicker to complete than the cantina dash quests so I did them more often, and I had fun imagining what the strange concoction I was cooking up might have tasted like! I think my favourite would have been the jellied glowshroom stew with extra glowshrooms.

I ran the kitchen quests as often as I could – it was quick, fun, and it made me laugh, throwing ingredients into the pot from across the room! I ran these quests with nearly every character I had – I’m pretty sure I was running these cooking quests in my dreams at night too!

Lastly, the world boss quests and ingredient quests – which were linked. Each day, there was a different world boss quest and a matching ingredient quest – the ingredients were items to pick up/loot from mobs around the same area as the world boss, so it made sense to get them both done at the same time.

The world bosses included Corellia, Belsavis, Nar Shaddaa, Hoth, and Tatooine. I got Hoth and Belsavis a lot, and only got one group for Lucky the rancor on Corellia on the last day. I hadn’t done a world boss group in a very long time, so it was a fun multiplayer component to the event. The event weekly didn’t require players to complete the world boss quests, so you didn’t have to do them, but they were fun, relatively quick due to the popularity of the event, and helped with earning event currency.

The event also had a storyline, which was released in three parts – one part each week. If you waited until the third week, you could play through all three parts of the storyline and get it finished in one go, but for the most part I kept up with the weekly releases.

The story took players all across the galaxy – Rishi, Mek-Sha, Onderon, Dantooine, Voss – helping the Feast of Prosperity organisers find ingredients, recruit chefs, and more. One of my favourite parts was stealing wine from the cantina bar on Rishi. Oh, and controlling a mouse droid in the kitchen was so funny!

All in all, I had so much fun playing this event – and it’s a shame it will only happen once a year, but the annual schedule makes sense to coordinate with the Thanksgiving season inspiration. The vendor rewards were amazing, and I earnt as much event currency as I could – though I still need more food launchers, they are so much fun! I fell in love with the new outfit available from the event vendor, and created a new character just to wear it – but more on that in another blog post.

August 28th to October 8th

We took a little break from our regular conquest schedule, and explored the new content on the SWTOR public test server (PTS). There are two main areas to check out – Onderon and Mek-Sha. There is also a new playable species, new gear, new mounts, and some PTS achievements. We haven’t played on our regular server as much this past month, it’s been so fun to check out the new PTS content – we are so excited for the Onslaught expansion to launch soon!

Our main goal for playing on the PTS was of course the new mount and titles! We grouped up and joined the PVP queue, and completed ten matches. We hadn’t played around with gearing our ‘newly level 75’ characters up beyond their level 70 transferred gear, so it was a bit messy but still a lot of fun.

Kai Zykken’s MK-85 Log Mount is such a fun speeder – even if it’s slow. As the game notes say, this mount does not increase movement speed at all! It has a cute flourish though – the little handlebar bell rings. Here are Banshila and Toombs taking their new mounts for a drive on Onderon –

Speaking of Onderon, I really like this new planet design! From the details around the Hunting Lodge, to the creatures roaming around outside – I can’t wait to play the storyline here. Also, I want a lot of these decorations for my strongholds!

These guards at the hunting lodge are wearing awesome gear that is also available from the reputation vendor. I’m sure I’ll give it to one of my characters, just have to decide which one! I really like the metallic shoulder/chest armour – I’m curious to see how it dyes as well.

These are two new mounts available from the Onderon reputation vendors – the Heavy Arkonok and the Adorned Grefna. These are saddled versions of two creatures seen roaming around on Onderon – I’m always happy to see new creatures added as mount options.

I love the vibrant colours of the bird-like Grefna creatures, they remind me of a cross between varactyls and raptors. I do enjoy earning new reputation levels, so I’ll definitely be working towards these new mounts as fast as I can when the expansion launches.

Mek-Sha is another new area we checked out on the PTS – it feels like a dark mixture of Iokath and Nar Shaddaa. We didn’t really explore this area too much – didn’t feel like taking on the new higher level 75 mobs without better gear! We did a simple daily quest we found close to the landing area – a quirky digging quest with a shovel.

Checking out some of the new gear available on the fleet, I put together this outfit which I absolutely love! The detail is amazing, with textures, buckles, and even stitching. I defintely need to put this outfit together when the expansion launches – perhaps for a new Nautolan character?

Banshila is wearing the Onderonian Force-Lord’s robe and boots, with Space Guardian belt, pants, gloves and bracers (all purchased from vendors on the PTS Imperial Fleet). The holstered blasters on her thighs are part of the gear!

It has been a while since there has been a new playable character species added to the game, so I am very excited for Nautolans! I found quite a few option combinations I quite like, like this purple jedi consular with yellow stripes. Matt also tried out the new species, with this blue jedi knight.

When a creating new character, I usually roll a few test versions, to see how they look under normal game lighting and scenes. I enjoyed playing this test ‘Cavara’ character, and will probably create someone very similar (I’m a little undecided on the headband option).

I find it too tempting to create new jedi characters, I have to limit myself! I probably have too many characters already, and I know I need to save a few slots for the new Nautolan species. It was fun to run around Tython again as a new padawan, it’s been so long since I’ve done those first quests.

Lastly, back over on the regular server, Banshila reached her personal conquest target and completed the ‘Titans Of Industry’ achievement.

Overall, I’m really excited for the new expansion, and while it was fun to take a break from our usual gameplay routine, I’m ready to get back to it – I need to save up some credits too!

I’m slowly but surely working towards unlocking the unique event characters in Star Wars Galaxy Of Heroes. As a free-to-play player, I usually can’t get my squads ready in time for the first time launch of legendary-style events, but I work as hard as I can to get geared up for the second round.

This week, the C-3PO event returned, and I was keen to get him this time!

The C-3PO event requires a well-geared ewok team, and I have been working on mine as much as I could, but my Old Republic characters have been taking a lot of my focus. Now that I have Darth Malak, it was time to start concentrating on my ewok team in preparation for C-3PO.

After unlocking Padme’ Amidala a few weeks ago, I was eager to unlock C-3PO the next time his event returned – they have great Galactic Republic synergy, and of course I really want to build a good Padme’-lead squad.

I had been working on gearing up my ewok team, and even had a few zetas saved up just in case – which I used, but it totally paid off! Touched up my mod arrangements, and set off to see how many levels of the event I could beat.

It worked! I easily beat the fifth level, which was enough to unlock C-3PO. I quite like the events that let you unlock the character at five stars, rather that having to beat the full seven levels to unlock. It gives me time to work on mods and gearing until I can get them to seven stars – especially with the ‘new’ gear that characters like Darth Malak and Darth Revan need that take a while to farm.

It’s always exciting unlocking a new character, and even more so for the harder-to-earn toons like C-3PO. SWGOH is one daily habit I can’t break – I’m a Star Wars collector, and that passion extends to digital collecting too.

Look at all those abilities! I really need to start testing him out and learning the best strategies for his unique support/non-attack abilities. And mods, and gear – I do genuinely enjoy the process and strategy.

After beating the fifth level, I was curious to see how much harder the next level . To my surprise, with a little bit of strategy, I beat it with my full ewok squad still standing to win with three stars – on my first try!

I knew I would be pushing my luck, but I gave the seventh level battle a try. Sure enough, my ewoks are not ready to survive that, so I’ll continue to work on their gear. I don’t mind, I genuinely want to have a well-geared ewok squad for guild events and Grand Arena.

I finally have C-3PO alongside my trusty R2-D2 in SWGOH – I can’t wait to gear him up and start trying out new group synergies! I started farming Hermit Yoda the instant he came out, so I know I really enjoy the purely supportive/non-attack characters – C-3PO will be fun!

August 21st to August 27th

A bit of a quiet week in SWTOR – we focused on getting Matt the ‘Resolute Commander’ achievement (getting all 8 classes to command rank 300). We did a lot of dailies which helps for credits, command rank, and making good progress with our Star Fortress companions for those achievements.

• Tennika completed the achievement ‘Subjugator Of The Kon’me’ with her companion Ak’ghal Usar.

• Irgunn reached command rank 300, completing the ‘Commanding Consular’ achievement, and finishing off the ‘Resolute Commander’ achievement as well – with bonus cartel coins!

• Hadron completed the companion achievement ‘More Like Headhunter’ with K’krohl and ‘A Belated Apology’ with Rokuss.

• Vexi reached influenced level 50 with her companion Corso.

• Our family Republic guild reached level 12.
